AIM Pilot
The AIM pilot was launched in Anlo-Afiadenyigba, a rural community in the Keta Municipality. The area has active basic schools and a growing youth population, but also faces challenges common to rural education—low student performance, limited learning resources, and staffing gaps.
These conditions made it a suitable location to test and refine the AIM model.
Partner Schools
Anlo-Afiadenyigba Roman Catholic Primary & JHS
Anlo-Afiadenyigba Evangelical Presbyterian JHS
Research and Insights
The programme design was shaped through continuous engagement with school leaders, teachers, and community members. These discussions highlighted the community’s educational needs and helped tailor the intervention for maximum relevance and impact
Key Challenges Identified
Low academic performance
Limited access to learning materials
Low student motivation
Little structured academic support outside classroom hours
Results and Impact
The pilot has shown strong early success, including:
Three active Volunteer Teaching Assistants with stipends paid on time
Extra classes rolled out in both schools
Provision of key learning materials
Increased learner participation from the targeted 20 to 40 students
Fiade Hub Intervention
The Foundation introduced a targeted support model that included:
Recruiting and placing Volunteer Teaching Assistants (V‑TAs)
Running structured extra classes for BECE candidates
Providing essential teaching and learning materials
Providing monthly motivation packs for students who attend the extra classes and an award scheme for the top three performing students
Looking Ahead
The AIM pilot has demonstrated a practical, effective way to boost learning outcomes in underserved communities. Lessons from this phase will guide programme refinement and support future expansion into additional modules and communities
